After seeing last Friday’s episode, The Bold and the Beautiful fans were reminded just how driven Quinn (Rena Sofer) can be. She was determined to let an amnesiac Liam (Scott Clifton) believe they were together, but fortunately, Quinn’s son and Liam’s half-brother Wyatt (Darin Brooks) came to his sibling’s aid.

“I had a great time shooting [that episode],” Brooks recently told TV Insider, noting that the two brothers were reunited once Wyatt located his brother’s whereabouts and freed him from his domineering mother’s control. While Wyatt was furious to learn that his mother had once again crossed the line, he was thrilled to find his brother.
“I love the way Scott and Rena played that whole story,” Brooks adds. “Quinn falling in love with Liam — Rena committed full on to that.” Darin Brooks and Sofer have much in common. They’ve both won Daytime Emmys for their work in soaps. Hers came in 1995 for playing General Hospital’s Lois; his came in 2009 for playing Max on Days of our Lives. They both amassed primetime credits before joining BB, as well.

Has he learned anything from his TV mom when it comes to either acting or technique? “Nothing specific is coming to mind, but I think maybe we’ve learned stuff from each other,” Brooks muses. “When we started to work together, we came up with this beautiful dance between our characters – the overbearing mom and the son who can’t seem to shake that. But they still love each other and would die for one another. We enjoy working together. We’ll find the levels and we banter.”
Brooks adds that he hopes when The Bold and the Beautiful returns to production (the soap is currently on hiatus due to social-distancing concerns related to coronavirus), he and Sofer share more screen time.
“I’ve missed working with Rena and having those kinds of scenes,” he says. “I will say that there is one thing I’ve learned by watching Rena – she commits to that throughline as to who Quinn likes and who she does not. She’ll hammer that square peg into a round hole until it breaks. I love that.” The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
