The recently-sold Beverly Hills estate owned by the late Lee Phillip Bell and William J. Bell, co-creators of both The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless, served as an on-screen double for the home of Eric and Quinn on BB. The Bells also owned a home in Malibu, which also recently sold.
Lee Bell Malibu Estate Sells
According to the Los Angeles Times, the Malibu home has sold for $18.275 million. The deal is the second-highest recorded in the community. The estate is described as being built in 1928 and has “three bedrooms, a living room with a fireplace and a large picture window centered on the ocean. A two-story guesthouse also lies elsewhere.”
The approximately one-third-acre property went on the market in April, originally listed for $21.5 million. The Bells reportedly bought the home and land in 1989 for $4.365 million.
The Bold and the Beautiful was created by William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell and made its debut on March 23, 1987 and introduced glitz and glamour to daytime soap operas. The families that were in the debut episode — the Forresters, Logans, and Spencers — remain at the forefront of the program today.

The show’s most enduring love story is the one between Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye). BB’s backdrop is the glamorous world of fashion, but the show is known for telling social issue storylines, addressing such topics as homelessness, alcoholism, HIV/AIDS, Alzheimer’s disease, and transgender identity. No longer the new kid on the block, BB is established as one of television’s longest-running programs and is one of the world’s most widely watched television shows. Lang and John McCook (Eric) have been with BB since its inception.
