Liam Spencer went through lots of romantic angst last year on The Bold and the Beautiful. Torn between his love for Hope and his love for Steffy, he reunited with Hope once they learned that their daughter, Beth, was truly alive.

Later, the couple reconnected in a touching ceremony in their living room. Liam (Scott Clifton) and Hope (Annika Noelle) are committed, but he might be locking lips with another leading lady in the near future! As The Bold and the Beautiful fans know, real-life spouses of the actors are open to body-doubling for characters so that more intimate moments can be expressed safely in a COVID-19 world.

Those willing to help out include Clifton’s wife, Nicole. “She’s obviously on standby and [is] willing to [help out] if asked,” Clifton tells Soap Hub. While it’s natural for a happy couple, especially newlyweds like Hope and Liam to be affectionate with another, giving pecks hello and smooches goodbye, Clifton says that there are other ways to show intimacy.

“Liam and Hope are happily married,” the actor adds. “[So] we’re not establishing a romantic connection that’s really important to the story.” How do the characters express their intimacy? “We’re still very affectionate, but it’s vocally affectionate.”

This summer, Clifton celebrated a decade of playing Liam on The Bold and the Beautiful, Bill Spencer’s (Don Diamont) long-lost son. “My heart is so full,” the actor said when he saw a video tribute to him with clips of his co-stars congratulating him on the milestone. “I love you all. ❤️.”

Scott Clifton is the only actor to have won the Daytime Emmy in the acting categories of Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (2017), Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (2013), and Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series (2011). He’s been nominated a total of nine times for the coveted statuette. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
