Soap Stars Kelly Kruger And Darin Brooks Experience A Heartbreaking Loss

Darin Brooks and Kelly Kruger have much be grateful for this year with the arrival of their daughter, Everleigh. Alas, the stars of The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless had to say goodbye to a dear loved one, too.

Kruger, who recurs as Mac on YR and as Eva on BB, took to Instagram to share that her and Brooks’ hearts are shattered because the couple had to say farewell to their beloved dog, Charlie, after a 15-year love affair. “I walked into a pet store to get something for [our dog] Maddy and there was this adorable little brindle boxer mix yelping to be held,” Kruger recalls.

Naturally, it was love at first sight. Kruger returned to the store every few days to visit her, finally realizing that she had to have her. “She protected me from that day on. When I was upset, she’d lay on me and breathe deeply till I calmed down, when I was happy she’d bring me a toy to throw and play with her.

“We went through everything together. We grew up together. Charlie and our pug Maddy who we lost in May, were inseparable. They were my best friends, always by my side for my entire adult life.”

Kelly Kruger reports that Darin Brooks fell in love with Charlie instantly. “He’d take her on runs, they’d cuddle on the couch. She kinda became his dog. She loved going on walks and hikes and we would get up every morning and go on a walk just the 2 of us.

“The last year her walks got shorter because her arthritis got really bad but she still pushed through. That was our time together.”

The actress says she’s comforted by the fact that Charlie and Maddy are together again at the Rainbow Bridge. “My heart hurts so bad. Thank u Charlie for 15 incredible years. I’m so thankful you stuck around to meet Everleigh and spend time with her. We will miss you more than anything but know you’re not in any pain. I love you my Charles. Thank you for your unconditional love.”

Our hearts are broken. Last night we had to say goodbye to our brave girl Charlie. 15 years ago I walked into a pet store to get something for Maddy and there was this adorable little brindle boxer mix yelping to be held. The owner of the pet store said that someone dropped her off after they decided they didn’t want her. They had no papers on her and didn’t know anything about her. I picked her up, she nuzzled her head in my neck and stopped crying until I put her down again. I left and couldn’t stop thinking about her. Finally after going back and forth to visit her for a few days I said I had to have her. She protected me from that day on. When I was upset, she’d lay on me and breathe deeply til I calmed down, when I was happy she’d bring me a toy to throw and play with her. We went through everything together. We grew up together. Charlie and our pug maddy who we lost in may, were inseparable. They were my best friends, always by my side for my entire adult life. When I met Darin, Charlie fell in love with him instantly. He’d take her on runs, they’d cuddle on the couch. She kinda became his dog. She loved going on walks and hikes and we would get up every morning and go on a walk just the 2 of us. Last night, as I had to say goodbye, I held her and breathed deeply to calm her down this time. The only thing that gives us comfort is knowing that she is with maddy again at rainbow bridge, running, chewing on bones, cuddling and playing together. My heart hurts so bad. Thank u Charlie for 15 incredible years. I’m so thankful you stuck around to meet Everleigh and spend time with her. We will miss you more than anything but know you’re not in any pain.
