On The Bold and the Beautiful, we’ve no doubt that Thomas’s surgery was a success as he’s been recovering from the procedure and is getting on with his life. However, a recent twist may be giving the character everything he’s ever wanted!
Matthew Atkinson Shines as Thomas
Recently, Thomas had a conversation with his childhood pal Vinny (Joe LoCicero) that has given the Forrester heir cause for pause over recent developments. For his thoughtful and nuanced performances, Soap Hub is bestowing Performer of the Week honors on Atkinson.
Viewers have every reason to believe that Thomas is on his way back to his old self, the one who doesn’t obsess over Hope (Annika Noelle). But Thomas couldn’t help but probe after Vinny, who works in a lab, seemed to know a few more technical terms about paternity tests than the average person might!
A Paternity Test Shocker
After grilling Vinny about what he knew, Thomas popped open his laptop to research paternity tests. The more he learned (or rather, the more he realized he had much to learn) the more Thomas realized that Vinny was poised to switch the results of Steffy’s paternity test. Could Finn (Tanner Novlan) truly be the dad of Steffy’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) baby after all?

Many times, in Thomas’s darker period, he’d go to anger when executing his agenda. He refrains from doing that now whenever possible, but his ability to think two steps ahead remains intact. Thomas covered after Hope entered the room. He wasn’t about to let her — of all people — know that something might be up with Liam being the father of Steffy’s baby.
Thomas also opted not to share with Liam that it’s possible he might not be the father. Atkinson is adept at taking Thomas right to the edge of turning manipulative again, but he’s careful not to play his cards until he knows what’s in everyone else’s hand.
Later, Thomas asked Vinny point-blank if he messed with Steffy’s paternity results. Vinny said that the tests are accurate. But Thomas isn’t convinced. And even though Thomas is the one who wants answers, Atkinson plays the character as if he’s the one in the know. And that is what makes him such an interesting actor!
