Sally Spectra will get some family support when her fashion line debuts next week on The Bold and the Beautiful.
Patrika Darbo will return as Grandma Shirley, ready to lend her own brand of over-the-top Spectra support.
Darbo, whose character Shirley is the sister of Sally (played by the late, great Darlene Conley), is thrilled to be reprising her role.
“I’m very grateful to Bradley [Bell, the show’s executive producer and headwriter] that he’s bringing me back,” the actress tells Soap Hub.
A year ago, the rejuvenated Spectra clan shifted to the backburner after the building that housed their fashion line was blown to smithereens, courtesy of Dollar Bill Spencer (Don Diamont).
While Sally (Courtney Hope) returned as a full-time cast member earlier this year, her Spectra buddies have been mostly absent. However, that’s changing now that Shirley is showing up for her granddaughter’s Forrester debut!
Earlier this year, Darbo, who has a Primetime Emmy Award on her mantle for Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series for her role in the online comedy series Acting Dead, scored a Daytime Emmy Award for playing Mickey on The Bay.
Shortly afterwards, she was informed that her award was being rescinded over a submission violation.
She’s hoping that Sally and Shirley’s reunion isn’t the only one that happens. “My Alex Wyse, who plays Saul, is on Broadway right now in Waitress so he’s going to be singing, which is his heart’s desire,” says Darbo. “I gotta figure out how to get to New York before December 9th so I can see him in the show.”
Additionally, Darbo has some writing projects and another two-year term as a governor for the TV Academy to keep her busy!
“I’ve got several things that I’ve written that we’ve got some interest going on,” she says. “I’m just trying to keep as busy as I can!”
The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for airtimes.
