Former Daytime and Primetime Star Alan Thicke dead at 69

The incredibly talented Alan Thicke passed away at the relatively young age of 69 from a heart attack. While he is best known for his role as Dr. Jason Seaver in the hit sitcom “Growing Pains,” he also appeared on a beloved daytime drama.

The top-notch actor played the recurring role of Rich Ginger, a talk show host, on The Bold and the Beautiful from 2006-2009.

Earlier in his life, Alan Thicke was married to former Days of Our Lives Star Gloria Loring (ex-Liz Chandler) from 1970 to 1984. With Loring, he fathered singer Robin Thicke, as well as son Brennan.

According to Soap Central, Thicke also wrote the theme songs to the popular TV shows Diff’rent Strokes and The Facts of Life.

More recently, Thicke appeared on NBC’s hit TV show This is Us, which stars former The Young and the Restless star Justin Hartley (ex-Adam). The Canada’s Walk of Fame inductee also appeared on the Netflix series Fuller House, which is a reboot of the hit TV show Full House.

Thicke’s three sons — Robin, Brennan, and Carter, and wife, Tanya survive him. His ex-wife, Loring took to Facebook to remember her former husband and thank friends for their well-wishes. You can see the former DAYS star’s post below.

Some recent soap actors also expressed their sadness, including Justin Hartley (ex-Adam, Y&R), who appeared with Thicke on This Is Us. Dominic Zamprogna (Dante, GH) also worked with him.
