The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) recap for January 16 features Ridge’s big surprise for Brooke, Thorne and Rick’s big surprise for Ridge, and Bill’s utter misery.
Breakfast In Bed With A Side Of Annulment
Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) surprised Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) with a lovely breakfast in bed with her favorite juice, but that wasn’t the only surprise.
He shocked her with the news that he had Carter drew up annulment papers, which appeared to give her pause, and she reflected on how she didn’t expect her marriage to Bill (Don Diamont) to fail, but, big shocker, it did.
Ridge vowed he’ll prove every day she made the right choice in choosing him, and he’s humbled by her love. They look forward to reuniting and enjoying their family with RJ. When news of the signed papers came, they speculated that perhaps there’s another woman in Bill’s life… if they only knew.
Finally, they officially got engaged — complete with a huge rock on Brooke’s finger — one that will stay there “forever.” Haven’t we heard THAT before?!
Ancient History
Over at Forrester, Thorne (Ingo Rademacher) and Rick (Jacob Young) brought up Ridge and Quinn’s (Rena Sofer) little tryst. They asserted that Ridge isn’t trustworthy and isn’t the man for Brooke. Eric (John McCook) absolutely didn’t appreciate the direction of the conversation.

Both men worked to convince Eric to oust Ridge and give them another chance. After all, they are his “real” sons.
Meanwhile, Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) and Maya (Karla Mosley) took a moment to clear the air.
Breaking Up Is(n’t) Hard To Do
Earlier, Bill confessed to Justin (Aaron D. Spears) that sleep hasn’t come easily recently. Later, when Carter arrived with annulment papers, Bill shocked everyone by signing them quickly despite the fact that he knew Ridge had a hand in them.
Justin wondered if perhaps the reason Bill signed them with minimal pushback is because another woman waits in the wings. Ultimately, he worried that once Ridge finds out about what happened with Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Bill, he will lose his mind. Bill simply chuckled at the thought.
