Bold and Beautiful Dreams? Did Liam’s Trip To Fantasy Island Leave You Fuming Too?

 Comments

It sure looked like The Bold and the Beautiful’s Bill Spencer was going to have to pay for burning down Spectra and lying to Thomas about Caroline dying once Liam decided to blow the whistle on his dad!

But as viewers of today’s B&B found out, Liam (Scott Clifton) was only fantasizing about taking his dad down! The big confrontation existed in Liam’s imagination and only Steffy knows he’s even considering it!

Dream A Little Dream Of Me
Liam’s fantasy gave viewers the best of both worlds. Fans saw Bill (Don Diamont) backed into a corner as he denied any wrong doing, all the while fuming at Liam, who must have had a saint for a mother because he couldn’t be more different than his father!

Since we know Bill’s secrets are still safe — viewers can look forward to his being exposed. Hopefully, this climatic scene will take place at a big gala event — not in the relatively small confines of Bill’s office.

Fool Me Once
Many B&B fans were not pleased to learn that the scenes were a fantasy. One wrote: “I am so mad! Loved yesterdays episode…I thought nothing led up to this, could this be a dream? Lo and behold it is!”

But not everyone was unhappy. “I’m glad it was a dream,” wrote another poster. “There’s still that buildup of the truth coming out.”

History Repeats
B&B has a history of fantasy sequences. Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) was about to marry Eric in Palm Springs when Ridge asked her to run away with him. She dumped Eric faster than you could spell BeLieF! But, it was all a dream.

So was the time that Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) was modeling at a Forrester fashion show and Lauren and the police burst in! (The latter fantasy helped push B&B to the number 2 spot in the ratings for the first time!)

An even more recent example was Quinn’s fantasy that Katie was dead after she feared the youngest Logan sister was a rival for Eric’s affections.

The Best Is Yet To Come
Dream sequences serve two purposes: they provide a payoff of sorts for audiences that have been waiting for something to happen. But because the event’s really not occurring, the writers are able to continue their build to the true payoff.

And won’t it be great when Bill is finally exposed as a liar and manipulator? When it does happen, hopefully Brooke will be present. The news will likely wreck havoc with their marriage and could pave the way for a Ridge and Brooke reunion!
