Weekly Recap: April 27-May 1, 2026
Monday, April 27 – Episode #278
Tomas (Alex Alegria) sought out Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) for intel on Lynette (Dominique Madison). To paraphrase The Jeffersons, Vanessa was the real estate agent Lynette turned to to get that deluxe apartment in the sky. And then Lynette disappeared off the face of this earth.
Vanessa was upset because she had done a lot of work for Lynette, but it didn’t result in a commission. Dani (Karla Mosley) joined the conversation and was immediately intrigued by the Lynette situation because of her connection to Hayley. She told Tomas to also keep her up to date on what he found out about the woman.
Meanwhile, Hayley (Marquita Goings) surprised Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) with a special St. Bart’s-inspired meal. When they started eating, he began choking, and Hayley basically did nothing. Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) walked in at that moment. And then called out her “stepmother” for her inaction. Bill defended Hayley, but Naomi wasn’t listening.
At the hospital, Smitty (Mike Manning) pumped Shanice (Ernestine Johnson) for information about the lab and the people who worked there. And Ashley (Jen Jacob) made a lame excuse for why she was suddenly working on her day off. Ultimately, she found time to steal antibiotics for Grayson (Jordi Vilasuso) and handed them off. Lia (Cecelia Specht) almost caught her, but she was nonethewiser.
Grayson showed up at Garland despite his stab wound because he needed to make the drop-off with Rashad, aka Jacob (Jibre Hordges). It went off smoothly, and later Jacob told Smitty he thinks he’s making inroads with the guy. However, he’s still not giving him any valuable intel.
Grayson couldn’t escape a conversation with Lia, however. In the elevator, Lia warned Grayson, saying that he better not have told Ashley anything. Then she told him not to worry. She would keep an eye on her. As for Jacob, he called Naomi on her burner phone and made sure to tell her how much he loved her.
Finally, Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) and Kial (Greg Vaughan) ran into each other at the country club, where they talked about his kids. Eventually, he wants them to meet Nicole. She was initially worried, but warmed to the idea. They also talked about Vanessa and Joey (Jon Lindstrom), as well as the Carlton (Robert Christopher Riley) factor. He had to fill her in on the fact that Carlton played hoops.

Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla) and Anita (Tamara Tunie) both had confrontations with Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant). Chelsea had hers at Orphey Gene’s, where she didn’t back down from telling Leslie that she needed to just be happy and forget about all these resentments with her family.
Leslie also got into it with Anita. At the hospital, Anita basically told Leslie to apologize for being so rude to Shanice. The conversation called for Leslie to touch on her past without a mother. Meanwhile, Anita had a calmer, healthier chat with Madison (Kenjah). The two talked about Vernon’s Vitamin D deficiency.
Later, Ted tried to be compassionate with Leslie after her showdown with Anita. She was happy that they were in a good place with each other and had come a long way, despite the things they did to hurt each other. And despite the spectacle Leslie caused a year ago at his anniversary party. Unfortunately, Shanice witnessed the warm moment they shared. After Leslie left, the supervising nurse told Ted to get back to her when he no longer had the urge to show Leslie some grace.
Lia had to break it to Madison that there would be unfortunate consequences due to her impending lawsuit. She could continue her Parkinson’s research, since the hospital didn’t fund the study. However, she needed to take a short sabbatical from seeing patients because the legal department didn’t want to be liable if anything went wrong. Madison caught up with Chelsea, who taught her to channel her aggression and frustration through boxing.
Vernon (Clifton Davis) and Martin (Brandon Claybon) talked about Joey’s interest in Martin owing him another favor. Vernon ultimately told Anita that he would have to take matters into his own hands regarding Joey. Because Martin needed a clear path to run for higher office. Vernon and Anita also decided that her health is in a good place. She just made her last chemo appointment. And now they could get back to taking care of each other instead of Vernon being her caretaker through this cancer journey.
At the Smith-Richardson home, Samantha (Najah Jackson) took offense after realizing that Tyrell (Jaden Lucas Miller) and Jessica (Camryn Jade) had a makeout session in his bedroom while the parents were away. She felt there was a double standard because Martin and Smitty freaked out when they interrupted her own makeout session on the couch in their home when her parents weren’t around.
Jessica used her burgeoning conflict-resolution skills to help the family come to a peaceful solution. As a result, Tyrell was grounded except for events leading up to the cotillion. Also, Tyrell and Jessica had a chat about their future together. Even if they end up at different schools, they wanted to continue seeing each other.
Friday, May 1 – Episode #280
Kat and Martin spent quality time together talking about how they would divvy up the parental situation since it was their first anniversary since their divorce. The siblings’ conversation did get a bit prickly at one point. Martin was triggered when Kat called him a hypocrite.
Meanwhile, over at Garland, Eva (Ambyr Michelle) asked Ted (Keith D. Robinson) what day it was. She knew it had to be awkward even talking to her right now. Later, Nicole and Ted marked the occasion together, reminiscing about the good times and the bad. They were both happy to be in a better place, even though they were divorced.
Ted confessed about something he did at the Maui medical conference, where they first fell in love all those years ago. He knew Carlton was into her as well, so he redirected his friend when he wanted to catch up to Nicole. Ted thought that may have had his ex-wife thinking, “what if.” But Nicole was cool. She didn’t lash out, but it might have gotten her feeling a type of way about Carlton.
Vernon met up with Joey at Uptown, although the casino owner thought he was meeting up with Elon (Malachi Malik). The retired Senator asked Elon to set this up. They talked back and forth about Martin and his political aspirations, and about the things Joey knew about the Duprees. However, Vernon took a tough stance on the favor Martin owed Joey. He told him that he’ll be the one paying the debt from here on out. Not his grandson. The two shook on this new deal.
Dani, Andre (Sean Freeman), Chelsea, and Naomi met up for a meal at Orphey Gene’s. Naomi hoped this would be good for Dani, since Dani had been hurt when Chelsea rejected her request to work on a project together again. Across the room, Bill and Tomas talked business, mainly concerning Lynette. But Bill couldn’t take his eyes off the table. He yearned to be over there.
At first, that’s what happened when Tomas left. Bill walked over, and he was invited to sit down with them. But once Andre was gone, Naomi made up an excuse to talk to Bill alone. She said that she wanted to give Dani and Chelsea some quality alone time. And she wanted to put her dad in check regarding his feelings for his ex-wife, emphasis on ex.
Eva and Andre ran into each other at the club, where they talked about the dreaded anniversary. Martin walked in on Ted and Nicole as they hugged over their non-anniversary. At Uptown, Kat and Tomas looked over a list of people Lynette conned out of their money. Kat recognized one of the names.
