Weekly Recap: July 13-17, 2026
Monday, July 13 – Episode #323
Anita (Tamara Tunie) was back in business, tackling her long to-do list. Anita and Vernon (Clifton Davis) told Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) that Kat (Colby Nixon) bought a condo. Nicole caught up with Kat, who told her mom about Bill’s maybe stroke. Nicole got Kat to see that Tomas (Alex Alegria) paying rent was a good thing. Vernon was offered the opportunity to mentor political candidates, and he wanted to take it. Anita thought it would be good for him, too.
Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla) apologized to Kat. She realized it wasn’t cool for her to use Kat’s transplant experience to sell their products. Chelsea suggested Kat should tell her story on ChelseaKat’s socials. Kat was reluctant, even though she could shed light on the importance, especially for black women. Kat said Chelsea can use the socials to spread the word. But leave her out of it.
Chelsea floated the idea of Eva (Ambyr Michelle) and Kat telling their story together, which Kat didn’t appreciate. Kat did give her permission to reach out to Eva to share her side of the story. Chelsea learned that Bill was back in the hospital.
Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) was rushed to the hospital even though he put up a fight and didn’t want to go. He insisted he didn’t have a stroke, and he was right. But Madison (Kenjah) wanted to keep him in the hospital longer to do a thorough work-up of his blood. See if there were any more abnormal readings. Hayley (Marquita Goings) tried to get him out of the hospital as quickly as possible. But that didn’t happen.
Dani (Karla Mosley) came home to Andre. (Sean Freeman) reading a series of articles about women and mastectomies. Dani and Andre continued to argue. The photo shoots featuring these women with mastectomies were inspiring to Andre. Dani told Andre she wasn’t a cancer patient yet.
Andre noted that these women survived and won. But she didn’t want her husband’s perception of her to change. He claimed it hadn’t. Then she wondered why he hadn’t touched her since she walked through the door. He rectified that quickly.
Naomi (Arielle Prepetit)called Dani and told Dani about Bill. She told her daughter to keep her posted, but didn’t rush in to be by Bill’s side. After she hung up, she told Andre that she was exactly where she needed to be. They tried to make love but were completely out of sync.
Tuesday, July 14 – Episode #324
Dani and Andre got back on the same page, at least in the bedroom. Andre reluctantly had to leave their bubble, however. He had drinks with his Uncle Ted (Keith D. Robinson). At the country club, Ted and Andre talked about their women. Meanwhile, Nicole showed up at Dani’s house, impressed that Dani hadn’t headed straight to Bill, who was still at the hospital.
Dani acted like the epitome of someone drawing healthy boundaries. Bill’s wife, Hayley, could take care of him, Dani insisted. After Nicole left, however, Chelsea called her mom and gave her an update. That he would have to stay overnight. As for Bill, he was upset that Madison, Chelsea, Naomi, and even Hayley wouldn’t let him leave the hospital. Madison wanted to run more tests. Ultimately, he caved.
Later, Dani did show up. She couldn’t stay away. Bill didn’t think she was coming to visit. But when he saw her, he looked beyond happy that she was there. Hayley had left to go pick up a few things. She ran into Tomas, who was having an All About Eve moment in Bill’s office. But when she got back to the hospital, Dani sat by Bill’s side. But she left as soon as Hayley arrived.
After getting drinks with Andre, Ted ran into Tomas, who was still embarrassed about Kat rejecting his proposal in front of the Duprees. Ted tried to tell him that he didn’t need to be embarrassed. Tomas stunned Ted a little, however. He told him that Kat had purchased the condo for him. He then corrected himself, saying that it was more about Kat wanting him to move in with her. Ted was flabbergasted by his daughter’s actions.
Shanice. (Ernestine Johnson), Madison, Ashley (Jen Jacob), and Nicole talked about their messy love lives. And Tomas and Naomi got into it in Bill’s office. Bill had asked Naomi to make sure everything was cool at his firm. And when Tomas saw Naomi sitting behind Bill’s desk, he lost it.
Wednesday, July 15 – Episode #325
Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) brought a box to Joey’s. It was some of Doug’s stuff. Joey (Jon Lindstrom) looked through the box and found a letter that Doug (Jason Graham) left in case of his death. And when Vanessa left for lunch with Deanna (Angela Fairley), he read it, and it was very incriminating.
Doug stated that if he left this earth, assume it was because he knew too much about Joey Armstrong. He even included the fact that Joey had someone murdered. It was a scorched-earth letter, and Joey wasn’t happy. He pocketed it. At Orphey Gene’s, Deanna suggested that they should have dinner that night. Vanessa, Donnell (Alex Cheeks), Deanna…and Joey. Vanessa talked to Joey, who agreed to the dinner.
Bill checked himself out of the hospital against medical advice, upsetting Madison and especially Chelsea. He said he had work to get back to. And he was feeling good. No tremors. At Uptown, Hayley tried to celebrate Bill’s hospital stay with Randy (Maurice P. Kerry). She felt that the time was near. Bill had been slurring his words and everything. But Randy cautioned her.
Hayley told Randy that he would have to work things out in the lab if any of Bill’s tests came back showing toxins in his blood. After Randy left, Chelsea called Hayley to see if she could help with Bill’s stubbornness. And Randy headed to Joey’s, where his boss gave him another assignment. Check whether Doug had a safety deposit box.
Sharon (Bonita Brisker) and Tracy (Maria Howell) were in town to visit with Anita and Vernon. They talked about Anita joining them on the tour. But she thought maybe they should get back in the studio to record the album, which would also feature Barbara’s tracks. She still needed to go through radiation, however. Vernon jumped the gun, called Devon (Young and the Restless star Bryton James), and booked a date in the studio. Anita didn’t look happy, but she covered.
Jacob (Jibre Hordges) accompanied Naomi to her appointment with Dr. Monica McCormick (Iona Morris). Jacob asked questions, and it was clear he wasn’t totally sold on the drastic measures Naomi was considering to prevent cancer. They talked about the double mastectomy. And they also covered potentially removing her ovaries and fallopian tubes. Monica felt that Naomi should take her time to decide.
Thursday, July 16 – Episode #326
Naomi finally came clean to her sister and her cousins. She told Chelsea, Martin (Brandon Claybon), and Kat that she tested positive for the BRCA gene. Chelsea, especially, couldn’t believe she had kept it quiet from them and from Jacob. Naomi said she had needed space. Martin and Kat supported her while Chelsea was the most upset.
Smitty (Mike Manning) and Martin both recalled the rough patch in their marriage. It was when Martin finally confessed that he killed a man during a traumatic incident involving him and Vernon being targeted. Smitty first talked to Andre about it. Then Andre talked to Martin about it. Before the episode ended, Smtty and Martin connected, looked back, and reflected.
Speaking of confessions, Dani told Pamela (Cady McClain) about her torrid night with Bill in the elevator during the tornado. Pamela reacted with equal parts support, sarcasm, and tough love. But she also said their hooking up was inevitable.
Deanna practiced nailing Joey to the wall before he and Vanessa arrived. But she decided not to get ahead of herself just yet. The dinner was tense, but mostly for Deanna and Joey. They tried to get reactions out of each other, but they stayed calm and cool. Vanessa was oblivious to a lot of it. She thought it was a successful dinner. Outside, a solo Deanna lost it as she once again spoke with her “father.”
Hayley found Bill in work mode. He didn’t want to be bothered. So Hayley made a spa appointment. After she left, Bill put Tomas in his place regarding his issues with answering to Naomi. Tomas felt he had worked hard to move up the ladder and that he couldn’t compete with nepotism. Tomas also broke the news to Bill that Kat had rejected his proposal.
Andre told Dani he didn’t take their marriage for granted. At Orphey Gene’s, Hayley ran into Smitty, who pumped her for information on Lynette Wise (Dominique Madison). Later, at the country club, Hayley encountered Naomi, Chelsea, and Kat. They weren’t happy with her because she wasn’t taking care of Bill.
Friday, July 17 – Episode #327
Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) stopped by Eva’s place. Ted was already there, and Leslie knew it. She got a little too flirty with her Teddy. He shut that down and left for work. Eva didn’t appreciate Leslie’s presence. She yelled at her mom, telling her that she didn’t want her to ruin her relationship with her father. And Eva told Leslie to go.
At the hospital, Ted told Shanice about what happened with Leslie. Later, the two spent some alone time together. Ted told Shanice that he was falling in love with her. Meanwhile, Dani, Chelsea, and Kat were at the country club. Chelsea was upset that Naomi had lied to them about her BRCA gene test result. Chelsea and Kat told Dani that Hayley got a facial when she should have been taking care of Bill.
There were many short and not-so-sweet conflicts. In addition to Ted and Leslie, Dani and Hayley locked horns. It got heated, and Dani implied that Bill would never get over her. Bill and Kat went toe-to-toe in his law office over the way the Dupree women won’t cut Hayley any slack.
Bill headed over to Dani’s house, where he said that since he kept the secret about their recent hook-up, he could keep any further ones a secret, too. Dani insisted sex between them would never happen again. Bill thought she doth protest too much. The best skirmish in the episode, however, was the one between Hayley and Leslie. Leslie tried to pitch a team-up again. When Hayley rejected her idea (again), things got heated. And now Lesle considers Hayley an enemy.
Chelsea and Madison spent some quality time together. Kat actually stopped by Eva’s to thank her for what she said to Tomas. It was a nice chat. And yes, they both acknowledged that this didn’t change anything. They still weren’t sisters.
