Next week on Beyond the Gates, Ted thinks Nicole should replace Lia as Garland Memorial’s new chief of staff. Nicole doesn’t seem as into the pitch as Ted is. Meanwhile, Doug McBride has returned and revealed himself to Deanna. Here’s your BTG video preview for the week of May 25, 2026.
Key Takeaways
- Ted pushes Nicole toward the chief of staff role at Garland Memorial, but she isn’t buying his pitch.
- Doug’s shocking return leads to an emotional reunion with Deanna.
- Leslie puts Hayley on the spot while new alliances and questions begin to form.
Kissing Interruptus
“Let’s get to it,” Anita says. “Yes, please,” Vernon responds.
Well, Anita (Tamara Tunie) is sure feeling better. Just as Anita and Vernon (Clifton Davis) start to get frisky in their own home, Kat (Colby Nixon) walks in and interrupts them. Needless to say, she makes a squeaky sound in response to this cringe moment for her. Kat’s quickest reflex response is to cover her eyes. Will she be rethinking her living situation after this?
Father/Daughter Reunion
“Daddy, is this real?” Deanna McBride (Angela Fairley) whispers, sounding like she can’t believe her very eyes. Her father is standing right in front of her. And she doesn’t know what to think.
“Are you just going to stare, or are you going to come over and see for yourself?” An alive Doug (Jason Graham) asks. Apparently, reports of his death were greatly exaggerated. Why is he only resurfacing now?
Let’s Talk About Sex
A father and son have a much-needed chat. “You know, we can talk about anything, right?” Martin (Brandon Claybon) tells Tyrell (Jaden Lucas Miller), who replies, “Even sex?”
This might be a conversation that should have happened before the cotilion. The night of the debutante ball, Tyrell and Jessica (Camryn Jade) took their relationship to the next level. And now Tyrell seems to need some advice. What kind of guidance is he looking for?
Ted Doesn’t Ever Listen, Example #249
Dr. Lia Whitmore (Cecelia Specht) was exposed as one of the decision-makers of the plasma ring. And it’s left everyone at the hospital reeling over the fact that the chief of staff of Garland Memorial was involved in such a nefarious organization.
It’s left a stain on the hospital, and Ted (Keith D. Robinson) thinks Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) should take over as the new chief of staff. Anita and Vernon already told him to tread carefully. They felt he should talk to Nicole before pushing his pitch further up the chain.
In this preview, he tells Nicole, “I told the board you would make an excellent chief of staff.” She immediately says, “Are you out of your mind?” Her parents explained how their daughter doesn’t want anything to do with administrative roles. Why would Ted continue pursuing the issue after he heard that?
Leslie Has Hayley’s Number
Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) has attempted to join forces with Hayley (Marquita Goings) before. And Hayley always walks away looking like she wants nothing to do with Leslie Dana Thomas. But if you don’t succeed, try and try again. “You’re playing the long game,” Leslie guesses.
Meanwhile, Hayley denies, denies, denies. “I’m not playing at anything,” Mrs. Hamilton says. To which Leslie replies, “You just haven’t gotten caught yet.”
Game recognizes game. Will these two finally become an alliance?
