On Beyond the Gates, Vernon Dupree will do anything for his family. Next week, he will step up for his grandson in a way that might be too costly. Find out more in BTG’s video preview for the week of April 27-May 1. As a reminder, the show will air only three brand-new episodes.

Key Takeaways

  • Vernon stands up to Joey, preparing to do whatever it takes to protect his grandson.
  • Dani inserts herself into Tomas and Vanessa’s search for Lynette.
  • Teen drama erupts at home, Nicole and Ted reconnect, and Kat clashes with Martin again.

Next Week on Beyond the Gates: April 7-May 1, 2026

Parental Double Standards and Teen Drama

It’s teen time next week when Samantha (Najah Jackson) takes issue with the double standards in the Smith-Richardson household. “The rule is about hooking up with someone in the house unsupervised,” Samantha begins as we see Tyrell (Jaden Lucas Miller) and Jessica (Camryn Jade) making out in his bedroom. “You guys are okay with your son doing it, but not your daughter?”

She’s got a point. How will Smitty (Mike Manning) and Martin (Brandon Claybon, who recently appeared on CBS’s Soapy Podcast) respond?

Dani Interrupts…and Instigates?

The action moves to Uptown, where Dani (Karla Mosley) happens upon Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) and Tomas (Alex Alegria). “Wow. What the hell is going on at that law firm?” She wonders aloud to her good friend and her niece’s boyfriend.

According to Monday’s teasers, Dani gets involved when she stumbles upon Tomas trying to get intel from Vanessa about Lynette (Dominique Madison). How involved does Dani get?

Elsewhere, Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) and Haylely (Marquita Goings) are eating, and Bill suddenly has a coughing fit. And Hayley just sits there. She is so over Bill these days. Although, should we be worried about him? After all, Hayley has resumed lacing Bill’s lattes. Is she “spiking” everything else, too?

Ted and Nicole Reflect on the Good Times

It’s been roughly a year since Ted (Keith D. Robinson) and Nicole’s marriage imploded at their anniversary party at the Fairmont Crest Country Club. And Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) and Ted are in a good place. They’ve put a lot of their baggage behind them, and now they’re remembering the warm times.

“We had an amazing run,” Nicole says fondly. “I miss those people,” Ted responds equally as nostalgic. The two hug as we hear Nicole say, “So do I.” It’s apparent that these two will always have a connection, much like Bill and Dani.

Another Kat and Martin Sibling Showdown

Kat (Colby Nixon) and Martin have been known to argue and debate. While things have been drama-free between the two lately, expect a heated conversation. “You can be so damn stubborn,” Martin stated. “And you can be such a hypocrite,” Kat slings back at her brother. “The hell I am!” Martin responds loudly.

Next week, Kat and Martin are supposed to help their parents. Is this how they expect to get things done?

Vernon Makes a Sacrifice for His Grandson

Finally, Vernon (Clifton Davis) tells Anita (Tamara Tunie), “I’ll have to handle Joey myself.” The Duprees know that Martin owes Joey (Jon Lindstrom), and it makes everybody uncomfortable. With the congressman hoping to run for the Senate, Vernon is going to do whatever it takes to make his grandson’s dream come true. But that debt is just sitting there, collecting dust. Vernon can’t have that.

“Martin owes me, and one of these days, I am going to collect,” Joey tells the Dupree patriarch. “Leave my grandson alone,” A fearless Vernon says right back to the corrupt casino owner. Vernon decides to take on Martin’s debt, leaving the wannabe senator debt-free. Will Joey go for that?
