Next Week on Beyond the Gates: September 14-18, 2026
Anita Asks an Important Question
Anita (Tamara Tunie) is at home, and she’s on the phone. And she’s in need of some dire information. “Does chemotherapy permanently impact vocal cords?” she asks.
She has been off chemo for a while now, and she’s struggling to get her voice back to the greatness it was before she was diagnosed with cancer. What is she about to find out? Will she be able to get back into the studio with her fellow Articulettes?
Kat Gets Annoyed with Chelsea’s One-Track Mind
Kat’s bestie-cousin won’t stop asking about her feelings for her half-sister’s man. “Can you honestly say you aren’t into Izaiah (Lami) at all?” Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla) inquires. To be fair, Kat (Colby Nixon) does have really good conversations with Jacob’s brother.
Kat loudly says the words “We are just friends” into her phone for effect. “What are you doing?” Chelesa asks. “Having Google Translate it in Spanish since clearly you don’t understand me,” Kat sarcastically states.
Ted Confronts Leslie and Marcel
At Orphey Gene’s, Ted (Keith D. Robinson) confronts Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) about sabotaging his chances with Shanice’s brothers. “It is pathetic how you keep trying to ruin things for Shanice and me,” he argues. “Bring it down, Doc,” Marcel (Darryl W. Handy) says as he tries to de-escalate the situation. “Hell no!” Ted exclaims, uninterested in calming down.
Meanwhile, Leslie doesn’t take what Ted’s saying seriously. “Settle down, boys,” she interjects.
Is Smitty in Trouble?
It really looks like Jacob (Jibre Hordges) is questioning Smitty (Mike Manning) again. But this time in a more official capacity. And Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) is right by his side again. “Is that you?” Jacob asks, showing Smitty a tablet with a photo on it. “Appears to be,” Smitty replies. “And what is Max slipping you in the photo?”
Before Smitty can provide an answer, there’s something Naomi, Smitty’s lawyer, wants to know. “Are you bringing charges against my client?” How much trouble is Smitty in?
Dani and the Two Men in Her Life
Dani (Karla Mosley) has moments with both of the men in her life. First up, it’s Andre (Sean Freeman). “I owe you an apology,” she begins. “For what?” Andre asks. “It’s not a what, it’s a who.”
Is this potential mea culpa for the incessant texting she and Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) engaged in while she was in Seoul with her husband, about something bigger (Bill and the elevator), or something else entirely?
And finally, we see Bill practically at death’s door in his office. And who does he turn to? Why Dani, of course. He knows she will go scorched earth for him. But first, he drops five devastating words. “Dani…I think I’m dying.” What will Dani do next?
