Wow, what an amazing episode of Beyond the Gates. Leslie’s revenge didn’t disappoint. She sent an entire family reeling from the revelations. On Friday, May 2, many of the Fairmont Crest residents undoubtedly wanted to unhear many of the truths that were unloaded on the guests.
The Truths
The entire community gathered to celebrate Ted (Maurice Johnson) and Nicole’s “perfect” marriage, and learned about Ted’s affair that happened before Kat (Colby Muhammad) was born. Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) painted quite the picture, but after the dust settled, here were some of the most shocking truths that stunned the FC crowd.
- Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) couldn’t process everything she heard. Dani (Karla Mosley) and Anita (Tamara Tunie) flanked her in support as she realized Ted had an affair during the time she struggled to have a baby and suffered miscarriages. It was a low point for her, but Ted chose that time to strike out and have an affair with Leslie. At some point, she did become pregnant with Kat.
- Eva (Ambyr Michelle) found out that Ted had no idea she even existed, and it destroyed her. She believed her mom and thought Ted was a deadbeat dad who wanted nothing to do with her.

- Ted found out that he had a daughter. When Eva confronted him, he couldn’t process anything other than that he had to get to his wife. And, as he told Eva, he wished he had listened to Kat. Only time will tell if these two will be able to forge a relationship. Ted now knows that Eva had been spying on him and his family and scheming with her mother. That wasn’t a good look.
- Martin (Brandon Claybon) found out that when he was a kid, his dad used to take him to have lunch where Leslie worked so they could spend time together. Needless to say, Martin wasn’t happy.
- The Duprees found out about Bill’s (Timon Kyle Durrett) role in this whole affair. And it wasn’t simply about offering Leslie money and making sure she had an abortion. He threatened and tried to intimidate her. He used really scary tactics in getting her out of town. Chelsea and Naomi weren’t happy to hear that about their dad.

Beyond these truths, Leslie wasn’t happy that Eva turned against her after finding out that Ted had no idea that she existed. Eva lingered behind at the country club because she really didn’t have anywhere to go. There was no way she could have gone home with Leslie. And there was no way she could turn to Ted and Nicole either. Even Mona (Karan Kendrick), hurt that Eva and Leslie lied to her, turned away from Eva. And everybody realized that Kat was right to be suspicious of Eva from the very get-go.

At the end of the episode, Leslie showed up at the Duprees, and she certainly looked like she had more in store for them. She wants to get hers and thinks they will provide that. However, there are certain truths nobody has put together yet. Namely, the fact that Leslie was responsible for everything that happened to Nicole’s assistant, Laura.
The episode gave us a lot to digest, along with Vanessa (Laura Buglioli) and Doug’s (Jason Graham) interesting conversation about fidelity. But we’ll process that one later.
