One of the main parts of keeping a secret is to spill your guts to as few people as possible. Another is to fill in toddlers on a need-to-know basis.
Did Bella really need to know that you were going to see Mommy prior to her actually, you know, seeing Mommy? No, she did not.

Nick (Joshua Morrow) is such a hip, liberated, 21st Century guy that he doesn’t believe his mother, Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) should unquestioningly do whatever his father, Victor (Eric Braeden), says.
He thinks she should do whatever he says.
And if Nikki refuses, then Nick will take matters into his own hands and confront Victor, man to man. Who cares what Nikki actually wants?
