It has been a while since Hunter King left her role as Summer Newman on The Young and the Restless, but the beloved actress has been very busy since leaving Genoa City and now has another reason to be festive.

Happy Birthday, Hunter King

That’s because she was born on October 19, 1993, in Ventura County, California, which means that this talented younger actress turns 30 years old today! Born Haley Ashley, King spent her early years perfecting her craft by appearing in a multitude of roles as part of a theater troupe based in Agoura Hills, California.

Her first professional acting job was a guest spot on The WB science fiction program, Roswell. Subsequent roles in series such as Line of Fire, Without a Trace, Dexter, and ER would follow. In 2012, King was cast in the Nick at Nite telenovela Hollywood Heights. She played bad girl Adriana Masters and appeared in 69 out of 80 episodes.

Following the network’s decision not to renew the show, King was contacted by its executive producer, Jill Farren Phelps, who had gone on to hold the same position at the CBS daytime drama The Young and the Restless. During their conversation, Phelps offered King the opportunity to join Y&R in the part of Summer Newman.

King made her first appearance on October 15, 2012, replacing Lindsay Bushman. During her initial tenure with the show, King won two back-to-back Daytime Emmy Awards in the category of Outstanding Younger Actress in A Drama Series (2014 and 2015).

The same year she accepted her second statuette, King was cast in both a film — titled A Girl Like Her— and the CBS primetime comedy series Life in Pieces.

The latter was originally conceived as a recurring part, but King was promoted to series regular status the following season. As a result, she left Y&R.

However, the following year she returned to the soap in a recurring capacity and was able to appear in the final two seasons of Life In Pieces. When the show was canceled, King was again upped to a Y&R regular until she left the role when Summer moved to Italy for her dream job.
