Parent-child relationships lay the foundation for a son or daughter’s personality, life choices, and basic behavior. So it’s no wonder that they play such a huge part on our favorite soap operas.

Teenage Josslyn (Eden McCoy) is a carbon copy of her fiery opinionated mom, Carly (Laura Wright), albeit with a good deal more common sense. The pair always relates deeply and maturely during their heartfelt talks, no matter how difficult the subject matter.
Respect is the key in Ridge’s (Thorsten Kaye) unique connection to Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood). While he occasionally tries to guide her through the complexities of life, he mainly supports her as a grown woman totally capable of making her own decisions.
Steve (Stephen Nichols) gave new meaning to the words “devoted dad,” when he stood by Tripp (Lucas Adams) after he was accused of rape. While the rest of Salem had him tried and convicted, Steve believed in his son’s innocence, giving him the fortitude to forge forward, and was the driving force in clearing his name.
In some ways, hip Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Summer (Hunter King) are more like sisters than mother and child. Summer often confides in Phyllis like a friend — think her suspicions about Sally (Courtney Hope); while Phyllis is constantly there to support her.
Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and Cameron (William Lipton) share a unique bond. Although he’s the man of the house, determined to set a good example for his little brothers and be his mother’s rock, Cameron often reverts to a young teenage boy in times of trouble, finding love and comfort in Elizabeth’s arms.
Sure, they’re total opposites in most things moral, but wildcat Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and angelic Hope (Annika Noelle) depict an extraordinary connection. Their opposite natures enhance their connection, with Brooke often standing by her daughter at the expense of her marriage to Ridge.
Mama bear Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) always has Victoria’s (Amelia Heinle) back and vice versa. She’s sided with Victoria over Victor (Eric Braeden) on the work front, stood by her during her woes with Billy (Jason Thompson), and took out JT (Thad Luckinbill) when he was abusing her. Meanwhile, Victoria has long championed her mom over her dad, making them two peas in a protective pod.
Although Lani (Sal Stowers) didn’t meet Abe (James Reynolds) until she was a full-grown adult, they quickly made up for lost time. There’s a pureness to their relationship and mutual trust between them. And, first and foremost, they’re immensely proud to be a part of each other’s lives.
Theirs is an unconventional relationship. Yet, somehow, former baddie Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) and her lethal “mutter,” Liesl (Kathleen Gati), totally connect. Their connection is earnest, yet comical. Their banter is fun and fiery. And, above all, they’re a hoot to watch, whether they’re scheming or doing good.
Also filed under a totally cool, unconventional mom-daughter duo is Shauna (Denise Richards) and Flo (Katrina Bowden). At times the pair seem like besties, who grew up together on the Gilmore Girls.
