The Y&R spoilers recap for Monday, August 15, 2022, brings Tessa Porter revealing her deepest fears to Sharon Rosales. Phyllis Summers and Diane Jenkins play nice at Marchetti. Plus, Victoria Newman manipulates Abby Chancellor while Chance Chancellor shakes his finger at Victor Newman in the wake of new evidence.
Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) walked into Crimson Lights shortly after Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster) returned with dorm room decorations. Tessa had a huge surprise — she could talk! A little bit, at least.
The women sat down with Sharon (Sharon Case) to talk, but soon, Mariah and Faith had to leave. Then, Tessa confessed to Sharon how worried she is that she might never sing again. Sharon listened compassionately, and then she asked her daughter-in-law about the new job opportunity at Marchetti. Tessa worried it was merely a pity job, but Sharon reminded Tessa that there’s no way either Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) or Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) would give her a pity job. Ultimately, Tessa declared Sharon the Best Mother-In-Law Ever ™.
Speaking of Marchetti, it was Phyllis’s (Michelle Stafford) first day. Summer and Phyllis had lunch out at Society while Diane (Susan Walters), Kyle, and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) watched Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez) play at Chancellor Park. Ultimately, they all met back up at Jabot, and then Mariah also arrived at the awkward scene.
In the end, Phyllis and Diane wished each other well, and Kyle ended up thanking his mother-in-law for doing such a good job with his mom. Of course, Phyllis texted the We Hate Diane Club to let them know she’d set things in motion at Marchetti.
Abby (Melissa Ordway) stopped by Newman Enterprises to check on her sister Victoria (Amelia Heinle). She gave her sister a care package from Society and asked how Victoria was holding up in the wake of Ashland Locke’s (Robert Newman) death.
Victoria seemed shaken, and then she told Abby what happened the night Ashland died. Of course, she neglected to mention the truth — that Victor (Eric Braeden) had Ashland’s body moved. Abby seemed affected by how upset Victoria was, and it sounded like she might try to intercede with Chance (Conner Floyd) on Victoria’s behalf. Either way, Abby expressed how sorry Chance was to be investigating the situation.
As for Chance, he went to visit Victor, and he lost his temper after Victor dismissed his latest evidence — a man in Ashland’s car smoking a cigarette. Chance pointed his finger and raised his voice to his father-in-law, and Victor warned him to be more committed to his family and not to point his finger at him again.
Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) went to Crimson Lights after they’d talked with Victor at the ranch earlier in the day. Nikki was none too pleased to learn that Victor had told Sharon, an outsider (really?), everything that had happened, but Nick said he had to have somebody to talk to about it who wasn’t family. Ultimately, Victor texted them to demand a meeting back at the ranch.
Nick, Nikki, and Victoria showed up, and Victor let them know that things had gotten more complicated with Chance’s investigation. Oops.
