Out Of Sight: How Young and the Restless Should Handle Lola’s Absence

It’s been months since The Young and the Restless viewers have seen Lola Rosales. Actress Sasha Calle has a new gig as the big screen’s Supergirl (which is so ironic, considering that’s what Phyllis Summers calls her daughter, Summer Newman), but no official explanation has been given for her absence from Genoa City.

Lola Is Missed On The Young and the Restless

Her presence is certainly missed at Society, her place of business. So what should the show do next? What we heard from concerned viewers who certainly have a very strong opinion on what should happen next!

New Girl

Recast her, 60% urge! With the absence of Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Summer (Hunter King), not to mention Fenmore Baldwin, Y&R has a huge gap in their twenty-something demographic.

Recasting Lola and pairing her with the newly returned Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) would not only get him out of Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa Porter’s (Cait Fairbanks) orbit, it would also give Noah someone other than his kid sister to talk to. He is a vibrant new character, who deserves an equally fun love interest to help take Genoa City by storm.

Grounded on The Young and the Restless

Not all silver screen superheroes are a hit, 28% of the audience reminds. Look at how The Fantastic Four keeps flopping. Ditto for The Green Lantern. Calle’s Supergirl debut might not work out, and she might want to come back to her steady gig. The show should keep the role open and only bring Lola home then.

Unneeded

Lola was only there for Kyle, 12% shrug, and now that he’s flip-flopped his way back to Summer…and they both hightailed it out of town, there is no point for her character to be around. Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) survived his brother Arturo leaving town. He won’t mind Lola staying with him in Miami. This was a family that went as quickly as they came.

The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes. For more about what’s coming up in Genoa City, check out all the latest that’s been posted on The Young and the Restless spoilers, and for an in-depth look at the show’s history, click here.
