Soap Hub Performer of the Week for Y&R: Melody Thomas Scott

The Young and the Restless viewers know that Nikki Newman name will do anything she needs to do to protect her husband and her children — especially Victoria Newman Locke. This week, she encountered an unexpected blast from the past amid Victoria’s recent upheaval. For her performance, Soap Hub Performer of the Week honors for Y&R is presented to Nikkis’s portrayer, Melody Thomas Scott.

Not only did Nikki have to deal with the fallout of Victoria’s (Amelia Heinle) accident this week, but also she had to come face to face with a woman she thought she’d killed.

As usual, Thomas Scott was up to the challenge though. She did an excellent job showing Nikki’s horror at seeing Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) in the flesh. Her excellent body language and facial expressions worked right alongside the dialogue she said as Nikki really let her one-time rival have it. We could truly feel Nikki’s shock and fury in the scene. Plus, the actress drew upon the sordid history the two characters have to truly pack a powerful punch.

Then, later, when she had to tell Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) the shocking news, Melody Thomas Scott had Nikki at pitch-perfect. She played the part of a concerned mother when it came to Victoria, but then she got down to business when she let Victor know they had another big problem brewing. Her inflection expressed Nikki’s outrage at the whole situation.

We’re truly looking forward to watching Thomas Scott flex her acting chops even more in upcoming storylines where Nikki will take on the role of co-CEO alongside Victoria. Bravo on an excellent performance!
