The Young and the Restless viewers know that Jesse Gaines will stop at nothing to exact his revenge on Ashland Locke. This past week, Jesse flew to Tuscany with Billy Abbott to out the Locke-Ness Monster, working to ensure Ashland crashes and burns once and for all. For that, Soap Hub presents Performer of the Week honors for Y&R on Jesse’s portrayer, Jamison Jones.
All week as Jesse worked to bring down Ashland (Richard Burgi), Jones made us genuinely feel Jesse’s jealousy and festering rage. Jesse blackmailed the businessman for years because of the way his father preferred Ashland over him. Although it could’ve easily been a throw-away part in the storyline of Ashland and Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) wedding, Jones took the material and brought his all to it.
We watched as Jesse lost all trust in Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and attempted to go out on his own to shout Ashland’s misdeeds from the rooftops for the whole world to hear. As part of that effort, he convincingly tried to win over Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). Jesse hoped to convince the brother of the bride that Ashland presented a grave danger to Victoria.
While Nick didn’t allow Jesse to blow up Victoria’s wedding, Jesse did end up getting Nick and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) to work together. Plus, the video Jesse sent detailing Ashland’s crimes hit the perfect mark for an expose. Too bad Billy won’t be able to use it.
If you thought Jones looked familiar, you’re not wrong. He’s worked in daytime television in the past. He appeared as Kip and Bill on Days of our Lives. He also brought William, Brady, and Dr. Warren Kirk to life on General Hospital over the years. With small roles on soaps, it takes a lot of talent to create a believable character, and we salute Jones for doing such a great job with Jesse.
Jones has several other primetime credits to his name including spots on Jag, Will & Grace, 90210, Alias, and True Detective. He also had roles in 24, Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight, and The Whispers.
