The Young and the Restless C&G News

Who’s coming and who’s going from The Young and the Restless (YR)? Are any favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future?

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring or day player roles? Are any well-remembered stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join Days of our Lives fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the CBS soap.

The week of February 24, 2020
Another Newman is returning to the Genoa City fold. Tristan Lake Leabu is heading home as Reed Hellstrom, Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and JT’s (That Luckinbill) son. Leabu will be back to pay a visit to his mother next month.

Leabu’s character was last seen in March of 2019. Since exiting the soap, the actor has filmed the comedy The F**k-It List.

Meg Bennett (ex-Julia Martin) and Robert Parucha (ex-Matt Miller) wrapped up their returns as Julia Martin and Matt Miller, respectively. The pair were back for the 50th anniversary of Newman Enterprises celebration.

The Young and the Restless History

YR made its debut in 1973 and introduced more sexual undertones and younger characters to daytime soap operas. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, four decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.

From Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) family machinations to Paul Williams’ (Doug Davidson) heroism to the adorable love story of Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Lola (Sasha Calle), YR knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.

Bringing the Drama

It is one of only four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), Days of our Lives (DAYS), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). YR airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for air times.
