Kelly Thiebaud Travel Tuesday
It appears that General Hospital’s Dr. Britt Westbourne is about to embark on a new journey with fresh face Cody Bell, the latest hunk to hit Port Charles. Speaking of going places, Soap Hub chatted with Britt’s portrayer, Kelly Thiebaud, for this week’s installment of Travel Tuesday.
Thiebaud’s Britt has recently lamented living the single life, but one of the many topics we discuss with her for Travel Tuesday is traveling by yourself. Find out her remarks on that and other subjects related to seeing the world.
Soap Hub: What has been your favorite place you’ve visited so far and what inspired you to go there?
Kelly Thiebaud: Probably Italy. I’ve always wanted to visit Rome, Venice, and Florence. It was a dream to go.
Soap Hub: Where is your dream place to visit?
Kelly Thiebaud: Japan.
Soap Hub: When you travel do you stick to a schedule and plan everything you want to see and do, in advance, or do you show up with little idea and just go with the flow?
Kelly Thiebaud: A little bit of both. I don’t plan too much because I like to be spontaneous but sometimes you have to get tickets to things in advance so it helps to plan ahead.
Soap Hub: Do you stick to tourist areas, or do you immerse yourself in the local traditions/cultures?
Kelly Thiebaud: Depends on where I’m going. I typically stay away from touristy spots but I also want to see all parts of the place I’m visiting. But I think it’s important to go outside of the touristy places and really immerse yourself in the culture.
Soap Hub: How many suitcases do you bring? Are you a light packer or pack way more than necessary?
Kelly Thiebaud: Recently I’ve been a terrible packer. I’m trying to get better at packing light.
Soap Hub: Have you ever been on a solo vacation? If so, what is your biggest piece of advice?
Kelly Thiebaud: I went to Barcelona by myself. It was fun but I don’t think I experienced as much of the city as I would have if I had someone to do things with. It’s fine during the day but at night it was a little difficult to go out by myself and be festive. But I think everyone should travel alone once in their life. You learn so much about yourself and push yourself outside your comfort zone.
