On The Young and the Restless, Tessa Porter has traveled on the road as a singing sensation, keeping an irregular schedule. Off-screen, Tessa’s portrayer, Cait Fairbanks, believes in keeping things simple, which allows her to more fully embrace wellness.

Life in sunny Southern California allows folks to have lots of options in terms of outdoor activities. There’s the beach, the mountains, hiking trails, and so much more — however, Fairbanks prefers routines that can be done inside a studio.

“I love [doing] Pilates and [practicing] yoga,” Fairbanks tells Soap Hub. “I do a decent amount of meditating, too. It all helps me a lot.”

While group classes have not been as populated as they once were due to COVID-19, Fairbanks says that there are pros and cons to doing Pilates and yoga alone and in a group setting. “I feel like the fun part of being in a group class is that you can push yourself further and be competitive in a good way,” the actress/singer muses. “When I’m alone [working out], I have a different focus. Both are beneficial and [both] always make me feel good.”

Food For Thought

Los Angeles also has its share of vegan and health-conscious restaurants but Cait Fairbanks enjoys preparing food at home, mostly, because it affords her more control over what goes into her body. “I’ve always had a tough relationship with [food],” the actress candidly offers. “I try to do intuitive eating. Eat when you’re hungry. Don’t when you’re not.”

Cooking With Cait Fairbanks

“Food is the enemy and your best friend,” suggests Fairbanks, who joined Y&R as Tessa in 2017. “I’ve been trying to cook [at home] a lot more…I always feel better when I cook at home. I don’t do intermittent fasting. I can’t wait that long!” Fairbanks says preparing her own meals is empowering. “You know what’s going into [your food],” she says. “‘Oh, there’s a lot of salt here!’ You decide what goes into your food.”

As always, it’s an excellent idea to consult your physician before embarking on any new exercise or diet regime. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS.
