DAYS: Beyond Salem’s Miranda Wilson Talks Reprising Megan Hathaway

During Bo and Hope’s early days, the big threat to the couple was the deliciously wicked Megan Hathaway, played by Miranda Wilson. After a lengthy absence, Wilson reprised Megan not on Days of our Lives but on the peacock+ limited series DAYS: Beyond Salem. Her reprisal was kept under wraps, but Soap Hub recently sat down with Wilson to get the scoop on her impactful return.

Soap Hub chatted with Miranda Wilson about Megan’s presumed death, how the actress’s return to DAYS: Beyond Salem came about, and what it was like stepping back into her evil character’s skin.

Life Begins Again at 50th Anniversary Parties

Wilson first became reacquainted with her DAYS family at the show’s 50th-anniversary party in November 2015. There, she reunited with Joe Mascolo (Stefano DiMera), Kristian Alfonso (Hope Brady), and many others.

“That was the first version of ‘Wow! Wouldn’t it be fun to come back to the show?'” Wilson tells Soap Hub. “It was a beautiful night. I didn’t stop smiling all night long. When the invitation came through to be a part of Beyond Salem, I said, ‘Absolutely, yes!’ I had so much fun. I had so much fun reconnecting with Thaao Penghlis [Tony DiMera], Josh [Taylor, Chris Kositchek], and everybody. It was just a joy…'”

Miranda Wilson and Megan’s Marvelous DAYS Backstory

For those not familiar with Megan’s history, she was introduced as the adoptive child of Maxwell Hathaway (Tom Hallick). However, Megan was soon revealed as Stefano’s devious daughter. She came to Salem to reclaim Bo Brady (Peter Reckell), her former love. Bo, however, loved only Hope.

The former Merchant Marine lied to his Fancy Face in order to help his brother Roman (then, Wayne Northrop). A lying Megan passed off Diane Parker’s son Zach as her and Bo’s child. (This Zach is not to be confused with the son that Bo and Hope had later.) Meanwhile, ambitious Larry Welch (Andrew Masset) romanced a vulnerable Hope in an effort to align himself with the respected Horton clan in order to further his political ambitions.

Megan’s scheme to fatally electrocute Hope in a hot tub took a fateful turn after Megan told off Larry in no uncertain terms. In a fit of anger, he pushed Megan into a wall and then, placed her lifeless (or so we thought) body in a hot tub at the Body Connection, Salem’s then most popular health club.
