Soap Opera Ratings Race: All Soaps Hemorrhaging Viewers

The soap opera ratings race for the week ending March 24 show your favorite daytime drama in freefall once again. With the Sean Spicer Show on every afternoon, many viewers don’t know whether to turn to real-life or reel-life drama.

The Young and the Restless
The soap all ranked the way they always do with The Young and the Restless in first place and Days of Our Lives in last. Y&R pulled in 4,306,000 viewers on average overall, down 134,000 from the week before and a whopping 418,000 from the year before. The only place it made gains was for women 18-49, where it picked up a modest 24,000 viewers from the previous week.

The Bold and the Beautiful
The Bold and the Beautiful garnered 3,475,000 viewers, down 59,000 from the previous week and 160,000 from the same time last year. Like its sister soap, B&B only made gains with women 18-49, where it picked up a mere 14,000 viewers from the week before.

General Hospital
General Hospital also suffered large losses overall, pulling in a total of 2,541,000 viewers on average, down 204,000 from the week before and 325,000 from the year before. Unlike B&B and Y&R, it made no gains at all in any of the four key female demographics.

Days of Our Lives
Days of Our Lives also had a bad week, garnering 2,089,000 viewers on average overall, down 247,000 from the previous week and 96,000 from the previous year. It also made no gains in any demographic category, and even managed a new low with women 18-49.
