The soap opera ratings race for the week ending August 19 saw increased numbers both overall and in a key demographic for all three soaps that aired. Days of Our Lives has no number for that week due to its two-week long Summer Olympics preemption.
The Young and the Restless, which kept its number one spot once again, pulled in 4,565,000 overall average viewers, up 124,000 from the week before. However, it was down 196,000 from the same time last year. In the key 18-49 women’s demographic, Y&R was up 55,000 from the previous week, and up 23,000 from the previous week in the 18-34 female demo.
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful remained in the number two spot, garnering 3,732,000 overall average viewers. It was up 11,000 from the week before and 105,000 from the year before. B&B also saw increases from the week before in the 18-49 and 18-34 female demographic.
General Hospital was the only soap that saw increases overall from both the previous week and previous year. It pulled in 2,573,000 overall viewers on average, up 47,000 from the week before and 81,000 from the year before. GH also had increased numbers from the week before and year before in the 18-49 female demo, but a drop in the 18-34 demo.
