The fallout from NATAS’ decision not to broadcast the Daytime Emmys on television this year and only stream red carpet and behind the scenes moments didn’t sit well with soap viewers. Instead, fans continue to rail against the decision, according to a Soap Hub poll.
We asked if you are still up in arms that you couldn’t see those special Emmy moments live by sitting in front of your TV and you let us know in no uncertain terms.
Out of about 3,000 votes, 95% of you are still reeling from the fact that you had to rely on social media to learn who took home the gold Sunday night. You followed Twitter and Facebook feeds to try to keep up the best you could, but missed the glamour and pageantry.
You also missed that feeling of suspense just before the winners are announced and seeing the shocked and excited faces. Yes, you caught some of it on videos the next day, but it wasn’t the same once you already knew the winners.

You also felt the red carpet coverage was sub par and that soaps and fans didn’t get the respect they deserves on the industry’s big night.

A very small 3% weren’t bothered by this at all. You’re used to social media by now and found it easy to follow. You didn’t need to see every moment live and were just grateful to catch clips throughout the night and the next day.

The final 2% didn’t even care. You would have watched if it was on TV and if you had the time, but award shows aren’t your thing and you’re content with just reading an article listing all the winners.
