A new face will soon arrive in Port Charles, shaking up the town with a wholly British attitude. Played by veteran soap actor Trent Dawson, Huxley will bring a new vibe to “General Hospital.”
“I was so flattered when my agent told me GH wanted me to come join them for a bit,” Dawson said in the June 13 issue of Soap Opera Digest.
Returning to the daytime grind felt like a homecoming of sorts, the “As the World Turns” alumni said.
“It goes on like an old pair of jeans. It’s been six years, and I just walked on to the set like, ‘Oh, yeah, I remember this. This is comfortable.'”
Dawson described Huxley as “a heightened character and very British. That’s the way I’m playing him, and so far no one’s told me to stop.”
The daytime community is a close knit one, with many actors sharing bonds going back years. Dawson certainly found this to be true when he worked for four fomer ATWT alums on the GH set.
“I was very much helped by Maura West (Ava, GH, ex-Carly, ATWT) being there,” he told Digest.
Though he didn’t work with Jon Lindstrom (Kevin Collins; ex-Craig, ATWT), seeing him buoyed his spirits. Fellow bi-coastal GH employee Roger Howarth (Franco Baldwin; ex-Paul, ATWT) also offered to give Dawson pointers on the East Coast-West Coast commute.
Dawson appreciates the excitement of GH fans at Huxley’s entrance onto the soap’s story canvas. “It’s humbling, really,” said Dawson.
So far, GH hasn’t provided little information about the new character, except that the role is a brief one. However, Dawson said ATWT meant his role as Henry to be a short-term one, but it “went on for years!”
