Willow (Katelyn McMullen) is whisked into surgery. Michael (Chad Duell) sticks to her side as they worry about the birth of their baby and Willow’s health. Will she make it through the operation? Will this save her life? She no sooner closes her eyes than feels the warmth of the bright light.
Everyone is worried, and everyone is scared. “What if she doesn’t wake up,” Joss cries to Dex (Evan Hofer). Over at the hospital, Drew (Cameron Mathison) runs to a distraught Carly (Laura Wright). “Did Willow have a setback?” he asks.
Poor Nina (Cynthia Watros) is heartbroken. She just found her daughter and now she may lose her again. Thankfully, Sonny (Maurice Benard) is right there to give her hope. “There may be a way to save Willow’s life,” he says. It’s music to Nina’s ears. Is it too little too late, though? GH made its debut in 1963 and was created by the husband and wife team of Frank and Doris Hursley, taking place at a hospital but in an unnamed city. In fact, the setting wasn’t named as Port Charles until the 1970s. General Hospital is the longest-running soap opera currently on air.
From legendary Laura’s (Genie Francis) four decades on and off and back on as the show’s leading heroine, to Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) super spy exploits, to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and his mobster activities, GH certainly knows how to please their viewers.
More than five decades of gripping drama as well as love in the afternoon have kept this ABC daytime soap on the air and winning Daytime Emmys. Epic romances, action-adventure stories, and love on the run have enthralled viewers over the years.
