General Hospital Curtis and Marshall
Marshall Ashford — and his hat — have moved along on General Hospital, upset that his privacy has been breached. What will Curtis Ashford do without his long-lost father?
We’re guessing the same thing he did all those decades when Hat Man (Robert Gossett) was Missing In Action — and not in an honorable, war veteran kind of way. We know Curtis (Donnell Turner) has no interest in learning more about Marshall, but do the viewers? What almost 3,000 voices had to tell us:
We may have cared in the beginning, 57% of you shrug, but the story has taken such a long time to get going that we are totally over it. Marshall was there, Marshall was gone, then Marshall was back again. So what? Unless he knows something about the Ice Princess or can get Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) to stop shoving her nose into every storyline in Port Charles, then we really don’t ever need to set eyes on the man and his haberdashery again.
We maybe have a few more bits of patience left to give, 42% are less dismissive. If you really speed it up and start spitting up some facts — preferably interesting ones — then we’ll consider emotionally investing in Marshall, not to mention his relationship with Curtis.
Barely 1% of the audience is clinging to All My Children and One Life To Live creator Agnes Nixon’s maximum to roll the story out nice and slow. These are long-time fans who prefer old-school soap opera storytelling. They didn’t grow up on Tik-Tok, and thus are capable of focusing on more than 30 seconds of storytelling at a time. Every day we don’t get the truth about Marshall’s past is a day we want to know it just a little bit more.
