49th Annual Daytime Emmy Winner: Outstanding Supporting Actress

Published by

The 49th Annual Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series goes to Kelly Thiebaud, who played Dr. Britt Westbourne on General Hospital. Others nominated in the same category include Kimberlin Brown (Sheila Carter, B&B), Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis, GH), Stacy Haiduk (Kristen DiMera, DAYS), and Melissa Ordway (Abby Newman, Y&R).

This is Thiebaud’s first nomination and first win at the Daytime Emmys. After joining the sudser in 2012 as Britt Westbourne, the evil spawn of super-villain parents Cesar Faison (Anders Hove) and Dr. Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), Thiebaud won the fans over with her bitchy but likable performance, earning the nickname “Britch” – a play on her name Britt and Bitch.

2021 found her on the run and falling for Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), getting kidnapped and held by her crazy brother Peter August (Wes Ramsey), rescuing her mother from Victor Cassadine’s clutches, only to watch Morgan perish in a tunnel collapse.

With an Emmy in her arsenal, we can’t wait for what comes next for this talented thespian. Soap Hub congratulates Kelly Thiebaud on taking home Daytime Emmy gold.

Daytime Emmy History

In 1972, the first daytime-themed Emmy Awards were handed out during the primetime ceremony, when The Doctors and General Hospital were nominated for Outstanding Achievement in a Daytime Drama — with The Doctors winning the first Best Show Daytime Emmy. Also at that same ceremony, Outstanding Achievement by an Individual in a Daytime Drama was awarded to Mary Fickett from All My Children.
