Now, Jason and Sam’s live revolve around finding dirt on the Marino family so mean, mean, mean Margaux leaves poor criminal Sonny alone. Why should he have to ever pay for making a career out of breaking the law?
Sure, this is a soap and sure, Sonny is a popular character. But he is also a mobster and kills and threatens to kill with little forethought. Let’s not lose sight of that. Even Sonny hasn’t lost sight of that. He said himself he is the one who pulled the trigger, even if Margaux’s mother asked for the hit.
So, if Sonny knows this, why is Margaux made out to be the town pariah for being a prosecutor who wants to make a criminal pay for his crimes? Even the ominous music played whenever Sonny laments how he has to save his family tells us how we are supposed to feel here.
The problem is, we don’t feel it. Nothing. Not an ounce of sympathy. We could have had a fantastic story for Sonny and the entire Corinthos clan this year. Not one tainted by a whole lotta nonsense filled with characters we hardly know.
