Valentin Cassadine had been touted for years as the most evil Cassadine of them all on General Hospital.
As the bastard son of the evil Mikkos Cassadine, Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) has a chip on his shoulder. To his mind, he should have been the one to inherit his family’s fortune once his “legitimate” siblings died. Instead, the fortune went to Stavros’s son, Nikolas (Tyler Christopher). Valentin went so far as to “kill” Nikolas to gain his fortune, but then learned Nik has a son.
Soap Hub asked you if you feel Valentin is justified in feeling slighted? Your answer was a bit mixed.

Out of nearly 3,5000 votes, 62% of you said no – his feelings are not justified. When it gets right down to it, he was not Helena’s son. If he were to be considered, he’d more than likely have to split the inheritance with Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) since she’s Mikkos’s other bastard child. Instead, that money went to Stavros’s only heir, Nikolas. Isn’t it ironic that Nikolas himself is a bastard since Laura and Stavros were never legally married? Well, the Cassadines aren’t ones to quibble details.

Family Affair
A smaller 25% can see Valentin’s side of things. After all, it has to hurt to be treated like a second-class citizen in one’s own family. Why shouldn’t he be next on the list to inherit the fortune? They could have always stipulated that Nik had to be the heir once he passed. Whether he has a proper claim on his family’s money or not, he’s still justified in feeling slighted. However, that does not give him carte blanche to murder at will.

The final 12% couldn’t figure out this maze of issues in order to place a yay or nay vote. That’s perfectly understandable since the Cassadines weave a complicated web. Their family tree has so many branches, who can keep track?
