Fans of Tyler Christopher, who plays Nik Cassadine on General Hospital, are thrilled to learn that their favorite actor might be returning to the hit ABC soap as early as September.
The actor made an appearance at the General Hospital Fan Club Weekend and according to Soaps In Depth, revealed to fans that he would be returning to the long-running hit serial in September.
But Christopher told fans to put the breaks on their excitement, as he confirmed he will be returning to General Hospital but did not give a definitive date.
Christopher abruptly left the soap opera back in May.
Christopher left General Hospital reportedly due to “personal reasons.”
The actor was in the midst of contract negotiations at the time.
Former Sunset Beach star Nick Stabile stepped in to temporarily play the character of Nikolas Cassadine during Christopher’s leave of absence.
Stabile made his final appearance on the General Hospital on July 29 when the character was shot and fell out a second-story window to his presumed death. In an interview with Michael Fairman soaps, Christopher revealed that he sees the character of Cassadine as someone who has grown up a lot in the past several years.
“Everyone wants to label what is happening to him as the ‘dark side’ of the character, and I don’t really see it that way. I think of him more as a shrewd businessman, and more of a risk-taker that’s naïve, and more brash.
“I don’t see Nikolas as dark at all. To me, that has connotations of a person that has no mercy, and that is devoid of any ethics. I just see him as becoming a more wise character,” he revealed in the interview.
