General Hospital Review: Blood Work for February 22 to 26

 Comments

Before a new week kicks off in Port Charles, let’s talk about last week. Welcome to Soap Hub’s General Hospital Review.

Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Julian (William deVry) finally got married in a surprisingly touching ceremony that caused this reporter’s eyes to well up with tears.

You can’t have a wedding in Port Charles without some mob violence, so of course Dixon (Troy Ruptash) held the entire congregation hostage, but at least the vows had already been said and sealed with a kiss that seemed more appropriate for a honeymoon than it did for a church wedding. In the end, Sonny (Maurice Benard) took a stand, saved the day, and jeopardized his marriage.

That all happened after Kiki (Hayley Erin) got shot while she tried to save Morgan (Bryan Craig) from his manic episode and ill-planned attempt to shoo the gun dealers out of Sonny’s territory. The week would end with Sonny talking Morgan down from a literal ledge, by offering to jump with his guilt-wracked son. If Morgan insisted upon jumping, he would, too.

While the GH storylines were compelling this week, they are not the focus of this General Hospital review. It was the bungled plot points that drove this reviewer to consider joining Sonny and Morgan up on that roof.

Did anyone else notice that on Wednesday’s episode, while there was “do not cross” tape across Pier 54, and evidence markers all over the docks, there wasn’t one cop on site? An entire smuggled weapons shipment had been left unsecured! Carly threw half the guns (i.e. evidence) in the harbor. These gun smugglers won’t need the legal talents of Diane (Carolyn Hennesy) or Alexis. There was absolutely no chain of custody with the evidence. Case dismissed!

Paul Hornsby’s (Richard Burgi) press conference about the bust was ridiculous. He was wearing an ATF jacket, even though he is the Port Charles DA, who was working in concert with the ATF. What’s more, he showed a full case of guns, as if Carly hadn’t dumped half in the drink.

Speaking of drinks, you might need one. Consider: Carly saved Kiki’s life by performing CPR. She went to the hospital and was there all night, or at least long enough for Dr. Griffin Munro (Matt Cohen) to perform a long and complicated surgery on Kiki. Griffin was even out of surgery before Carly bothered to wash her hands!

Are you trolling us, GH? Did Carly never even have to use the ladies room during all those many hours? Did no GH healthcare worker talk to her, see the blood, and worry about contamination?

GH, we understand you needed to chem test Wright with Cohen and find some excuse for her to see the good doctor sans shirt. Could you not find a different way for it to happen, other than for Carly to bypass easily-accessible public restrooms to make her way to the co-ed staff locker room? Medic!
