General Hospital C&G News
Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring, or day player roles? Are any well-remembered or beloved stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join the General Hospital fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the ABC soap.
The week of October 18, 2021
The long missing-in-action Charlotte Cassadine will soon be back on screen. Actress Scarlett Fernandez, who portrays Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) and Lulu’s (Emme Rylan) daughter, shared an Instagram photo of herself outside the General Hospital studio complex. “You have no idea how happy this made me!” she captioned the pic.
The 12-year-old actress, who last appeared on the soap in March, is finally back at the job she loves. Fernandez had to be written out of the story for a few months after she incurred a biking accident that left her with two broken arms, a cut chin, and few broken teeth. Fortunately, she’s now fully recovered and able to work, again. She’ll likely begin airing next month.
General Hospital History
GH made its debut in 1963 and is the second longest-running daytime soap opera in American history. The longest-running soap is Guiding Light. While it’s not the longest-running serial, General Hospital is the longest-running soap opera currently on air.
The daytime drama outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households! From legendary Laura’s (Genie Francis) many decades on and off and back on as the show’s leading heroine to Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) exploits to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and his mobster activities, GH certainly knows how to please its viewers.
Current Soap Operas
It is one of four soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include Days of our Lives (DOOL), The Young and the Restless (YR), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
