Though a brain tumor claimed Oscar’s life in 2019, his memory is still being kept alive on General Hospital thanks to the meadow named after him. In the real world, actor Garren Stitt is busy remembering — and celebrating — a major milestone
Happy Birthday, Garren Stitt
That’s because he was born on January 21, 2003, in Alexandria, Virginia, which means that this talented young thespian turns 19 years old today! After becoming enamored with the performing arts at a young age, Stitt landed his first acting role — on the series Morbid Minutes — in 2011.
Subsequent credits include short films — Bear, The Lady in Pink Show and Death Is A Salesman — and two series, Girl Crazy and Up in Arms. In 2013, he was chosen to appear in three features: Love Triangle, Bukowski, and No Ordinary Hero – The SuperDeafy Movie.
Between 2014 and 2016, Stitt guest-starred on Unusual Suspects and Rosewood and had a recurring role on the Nickelodeon sitcom Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn. In 2017, he joined the cast of two television series: Disney’s Andi Mack and ABC’s General Hospital. In the former he was Marty and in the latter he was a recast Oscar Nero, having replaced incumbent Rio Mangini.
For his role as Oscar, Stitt was nominated for the Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series award at the 2019 Daytime Emmy Awards — the same year that he vacated the role following Oscar’s brain tumor-related passing.
Outside of his acting, Stitt is a musician and a singer/songwriter. Among his RnB singles are the tunes Clout, Steaks, My Chain, and Player One – all released under the name Garren Lake. In 2019, he released an EP entitled Heartbreak Lake.
