Five Fast Facts About Veteran Soap Star Wally Kurth

Wally Kurth currently stars as Ned Ashton on General Hospital and Justin Kiriakis on Days of Our Lives. Along with his roles on soaps, Kurth has also guest-starred on shows such as Law & Order: LA, Hot in Cleveland, and he even had a recurring role on As the World Turns.

While he’s stayed busy with his acting career, Kurth also pursues a career in music while also keeping the focus on his family. From writing an award-winning song to hosting a reality show, here are five fast facts about the busy actor.

In The Beginning
Kurth was born on July 31 and raised in Billings, Montana. He got into acting at a young age and began pursuing theater. He ended up attending the University of California Los Angeles where he studied music and theater. This is when he started working in shows in and around the L.A. area.

Music Man
Along with being a successful actor, Kurth is also a musician. He is in a band called Kurth & Taylor with his writing partner, Christian Taylor. They have released albums and even write music for General Hospital. In fact, Kurth won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Song in 2002 for a song he wrote for GH called Barefoot Ballet.

First Television Role
Kurth’s first television role was as Justin Kiriakis on Days of Our Lives. He got the role in 1987 and was paired with Judi Evans as Adrienne, where they made magic. The romance was huge for the show and he stayed on until 1991. Though he left the show for quite some time, he returned to the role in 2009.

TV Show Host
Kurth was also the host of his own SOAPNet show called 1 Day With. In each episode, he spent the day with other soap stars, including many of his GH co-stars as well as actors from other soaps. He’s also narrated a show on The History Channel called Battle 360.

Getting Personal
Kurth has been married three times. His first was to Cynthia Ettinger from 1990 to 1993. He then married then-GH co-star Rena Sofer (ex-Lois; now Quinn on The Bold and the Beautiful) in 1995, but they split in 1997. Kurth and Sofer share a daughter together, 22-year-old Rosabel Rosalind (her middle name was to honor their late GH co-star, Rosalind Cash).

He then married Debra Yuhasz in 2003 and they have a 14-year-old son together named Brogan George. Kurth also has another child from a previous relationship, 33-year-old Meghann.
