Catch Up With Soap Legend Susan Lucci From Quarantine This Week

There are few soap performers with as much name recognition as former All My Children star Susan Lucci, who starred as Erica Kane through the soap’s entire 41-year run.

Lucci first introduced us to Erica as a love-starved teen who longed for a father figure in her life and a happy home with prestige and money, something she didn’t grow up with after being abandoned by her own father but raised by a strong and loving mother.

She eventually became an international star, married many times over, the founder of her own cosmetics company, and the host of her own talk show, as well as a mother and grandmother before All My Children left the airwaves in 2011.

During that time Susan Lucci was nominated for 18 Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress, finally winning in 1999 for a storyline in which Erica’s pre-teen daughter, Bianca, battled anorexia. She was nominated two more times after that, as well.

Since AMC’s cancelation, Lucci has appeared in the series Devious Maids and made cameos in various commercials spoofing her soap character. Her most recent cameo was in the Jimmy Fallon soap spoof, The Longest Days of Our Lives, just last week.

Well, this week she will sit down with former soap publicist Alan Locher for a chat on Thursday, May 7, at 1 pm EST. Locher has been having chats with former soap stars since this stay-at-home way of life began on his YouTube Channel, The Locher Room. Last week he featured Elizabeth Hubbard and Martha Byrne from As the World Turns and the week before we saw Cady McClain (Dixie, AMC), husband Jon Lindstrom (Kevin/Ryan, General Hospital), and former TV husband Michael E. Knight (Tad, AMC; Martin, GH).
