Abe Carver has been a Days of our Lives fixture since 1981 (ignore that minor time period when he was presumed dead – happens to everybody in Salem) and has been through so much in those 40 years.

As he fights for his life after taking a bullet to…it looked like the shoulder, but everyone is acting like it’s a mortal wound…we asked fans to name their favorite part of his life. Here’s what you said:

Love Makes the World Go Round

A romantic 60% of the audience looks back fondly on Abe’s (James Reynolds) many loves, especially with the late, lamented Lexie (Renée Jones). There’s also the woman we thought was Lani’s (Sal Stowers) mother, and his current main squeeze, the woman who really is Lani’s mother, Paulina Price (Jackée Harry). Just because his relationships never end well, doesn’t mean we don’t keep rooting for him!

Days of our Lives Boys In Blue

We miss the Abe who was police partners with Roman Brady (then-Wayne Northrop), a nostalgic 20% of viewers sigh. He was at the center of all the action then, and he was so sexy and dashing. Sure, being Mayor is respectable. But it also seems kind of staid and buttoned up. Doesn’t Abe ever miss his action-filled days? Or his action-appropriate outfits?

Papa, Can You Hear Me?

Abe is at his best as a dad, 16% of voters counter. Look at how supportive and accepting he is of Theo (Cameron Johnson). Look at how he accepted Lani (and how we know he’ll keep loving her even when the truth comes out). And…uh…Brandon exists, too.

The Other Women

Only 4% recall other romantic relationships Abe has had. There was Brandon’s mom, Fay Walker, his police partner, Nikki Wade…who looked mysteriously like his eventual wife, Lexie. There were other faces who flitted through. Those were fun…we seem to recall.
