Might the Days of Our Lives’ Dark Cloud Lift as Wedding Bells Ring?

Since last fall, there’s been a dark cloud in Salem that never seems to leave. From “Days of Our Lives'” serial killer Batty Ben, Bo’s death, Hope shooting Stefano, and Ciara’s rape to the three-car New Year’s Eve pile up, Jen’s pill addiction, and Abby losing her mind, gloom and doom have been the name of the game.

Now, a new fall is coming (after we get through what’s hopefully not a summer of misery) and wedding bells seem to be on the horizon. We have John (Drake Hogestyn) proposing to Marlena (again) and now news of Lucas (Bryan R. Dattilo) and Adrienne (Judi Evans) tying the knot. Actress Deidre Hall teased even more weddings in store, so perhaps the dark cloud will finally lift.

Soap Hub asked if you want more days of sadness or if you’re excited to see some happiness in town.

Out of nearly 8,000 votes, 90% of you can’t wait for the worst year in Salem to end and for some happiness to finally begin. You want these weddings and hope they don’t turn out as dark and dismal as Hope and Aiden’s (groom kinda-sorta trying to kill bride on wedding night) and Abby (Kate Mansi) and Chad’s (bride seeing her serial killer ex and losing it). Give us a good old-fashioned soap wedding that ends in smiles–PLEASE!!!

A very small 3% of you have been enjoying Dark Salem all these months. There’s never a dull moment and you can’t to see what tragedy befalls your favorite characters next. Weddings would just be cliche and you’d much rather see gore like the Yo Ling story, that most people found to be the height of ridiculousness.

The final 7% of you don’t even care. You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and then you have the facts of soaps–weddings, deaths, murder, psychopaths, you name it, and that’s daytime.
