Days of our Lives Recap: Twists and Tragedies Rock Salem

The Days of our Lives recap for Friday, August 21, 2020, features Eve mourning her daughter, Ben falling under a spell, and John’s health taking another tragic turn.

Days of our Lives Recap Highlights

Eve’s (Kassie DePaiva) softer side came out for a few minutes. She sat looking through all of Paige’s things, holding each item close. It was the anniversary of her daughter’s death… and time for her killer to pay. She told Vincent to be prepared. Today had to be the day.

The mourning mother got a shock when Eduardo (A Martinez) called. No, she did not want his sympathy. She told him that she would never be okay until Ben got what he truly deserved.

Prayers For John

John (Drake Hogestyn) came out of surgery, but all was not well. Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) warned that he was still in bad shape and she couldn’t promise that he would ever wake up. Marlena (Deidre Hall) was a mess, pacing the room until they brought John back, and only left for her office to cancel all of her appointments.

Steve (Stephen Nichols) took over keeping vigil, and Jack (Matthew Ashford) joined, too. They each talked about John and how much he is needed. The man is a hero and this can’t be the thing that takes him out.

A Downward Spiral

Before Marlena could clear her schedule, Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) showed up for his therapy. He was shocked to hear about John and did his best to comfort the doctor. She tried to turn the conversation back to her patient, but they both agreed this was not the time for a session. Marlena offered to refer Ben to another therapist.

The doctor went back to John’s room for some time alone with her man. She begged him to come back to her. Sadly, things went from bad to worse when John had a seizure.

Do As I Say

Ben left the hospital to go home, which was a big mistake. He walked into his room to find Vincent there. The sinister scientist immediately put Ben into a trance, bringing the young man under his and Eve’s control.

Try, Try Again

Meanwhile, Hope (Kristian Alfonso) and Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) took Kayla to lunch in order to give her a break. Talk turned to Hope and Rafe’s (Galen Gering) situation. Hope tried to play it cool, but she eventually admitted that there was more going on than just being friends and coworkers. Then she left for a conversation with the man in question.

At the same time, Ciara (Victoria Konefal) gave Rafe a pep talk of his own. She got him to confess that he still has feelings for Hope and Ciara told him to follow them. Unfortunately, any talk of romance would have to wait. As soon as Hope arrived, they got a tip on Eve’s location. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
