One day he was there and the next way he just…disappeared. Apparently, Steve Johnson was arrested for espionage due to the bionic eye he had no idea Stefan DiMera was controlling. And Kayla’s life on Days of Our Lives hasn’t been the same since.
It was Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) who got him that eye and didn’t tell him where it came from. But, apparently Steve (Stephen Nichols) has been out of jail for months now and has decided a mission is much more important than Sweetness and his family.
Like his long-lost son he was just getting to know. And oh yeah, that brother who returned from the dead once again.
Soap Hub asked if it’s time Steve just returned to Salem and 12,000 of you let us know.
Um, YES, says an overwhelming 97% of you. There’s no way Steve would stay away this long if he’s not a prisoner so this just doesn’t make sense. He worked way too hard to get Kayla back during his last stint in Salem, so this is just plain wrong.

Why wouldn’t he want to see Jack and try to jog his memory? Or, let’s say, go visit Joey in prison on visiting day? We assume he’s just in Statesville, which is an easy drive from Salem.
Kayla is just lingering in Salem with no story and doesn’t do much more than save Marlena’s life every few months, so she needs her Steve back.
The other 3% of you just don’t care. You haven’t really missed him and he’s been in and out of Salem for years, including many years when he was presumed dead. You figure he’ll be back one day because he always returns so you’re not really thinking about or worried about it.
