Days of our Lives News Update: Last Soap Airing New Episodes

Starting on Friday, Days of our Lives will be the only soap with new material still airing. Today is the last day for original General Hospital episodes so tomorrow we’ll see classic episodes for that show, as well as The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. But how much more time does Salem have?

Days of our Lives New Episodes Remain

Fans who want to see what happens with Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) and Ciara (Victoria Konefal), Xander (Paul Telfer) and Sarah (Linsey Godfrey), and the rest of their faves in Salem are in luck — the NBC soap continues to air new material throughout the summer — but it’s the only soap left standing after today.

According to the Jason47 DAYS Website, the show still has around 95 episodes remaining. That translates into about 19 weeks left of new episodes — though how that will shake out remains to be seen.

There were already certain dates where DAYS was to be pre-empted for sporting events, like the Summer Olympics — thus drawing out its supply. But those events will no longer be held — thanks to sports shuttering due to the coronavirus, just like soap production.

If nothing else ends up replacing those sporting events, then DAYS will burn through original programming sooner than they anticipated. It will also throw off holiday plans. If new episodes air earlier than planned to make up for the sporting blackouts, episodes that were timed for things like July 4th or Halloween will miss their target date.

But that seems like a small price to pay to continue getting new material and to see where the lives of John (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena (Deidre Hall), Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) go, and whether or not Gabi (Camila Banus) can bring out Stefan (Brandon Barash) from Jake — as well as where all your other Salem favorites end up leading. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
