The search for Abigail took a harrowing turn on Friday’s Days of Our Lives. Chad received confirmation that she was indeed on the plane that went down without any survivors. He shared the news with Jennifer and the two mourned together.
Overwhelmed by Loss
The devastated mother went off on her own to break down over the loss of her daughter. It wasn’t long before she felt a hand on her shoulder. Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) looked up and saw her late husband Jack (Matthew Ashford). He tried his best to comfort her with these words: “Nobody expects to outlive their child. You’re tough, you’ll get through this too.”
Jennifer was filled with doubt about her capability to recover. She’s certainly had a lot of blows, starting with his death. Obviously, she was hurting pretty badly if she was conjuring up her dead husband, she said it a fit of self-awareness. She then asked him to find their daughter and keep her with him and her grandma and grandpa. He just held her tenderly as she cried, saying it wasn’t right.
Pushed to the Edge
As her grief began to overwhelm her, Jennifer said the words that all who loved her would hate to hear. She wanted to use again. She wanted to do whatever it took to escape the pain she was feeling. Interestingly, a piece of her must have wanted to be talked out of it because Jack walked out on her: “I’m not going to stand here and watch the bravest girl I know self-destruct.” She cried as he disappeared.

Not So Fast
The tears are all for naught, it would seem. Getting ready for the cliffhanger that is supposed to make you want to tune back in after the two-week Olympic-imposed hiatus, it was revealed that Andre was behind the airline confirmation. This, of course, leads us to believe that Abigail is alive and well somewhere in DiMera-land. So… did Days of Our Lives gamble correctly? Are you excited to tune back in after the Olympics?
