Days of Our Lives’ Dreams of the Heart Feel Like a Nightmare

 Comments

When we first heard Days of Our Lives planned to give Brady some of Daniel’s “feelings” when he received his heart last month, we looked forward to seeing what this story would bring. However, this story jumped the shark faster than we could blink as Brady’s dreams became a little too out of this world–even for DAYS.

It would be one thing if Brady (Eric Martsolf) continuously dreamed about Nicole (Arianne Zucker) because at least he knows her and knows Daniel (Shawn Christian) loved her when he died. But, to dream of someone he never heard of in a setting that turned out to be quite real to him and the dream woman sent this story south fast.

While we’re already thoroughly enjoying Marie Wilson’s performance as the mysterious Summer, we just feel the show could have introduced her in a way that didn’t make our heads spin. Brady dreams of a lady by the ocean, learns from Fynn where she’s from, feels compelled to fly there JUST after having a heart transplant, and then sees her just in the spot he dreamed of her. Does that work for you because it doesn’t work for us?

Is this DAYS’ way of giving us a hopeful story rather than the emo and goth doom and gloom that’s rained on Salem for nearly six months? Daniel’s heart is leading Brady to a woman he “felt” was his sister? Daniel is still out there, saint that he was (in some eyes) looking over his loved ones?

If DAYS wanted Daniel to still guide story, why kill him at all? If Theresa (Jen Lilley) and Brady needed a little shakeup, Daniel could have stayed alive and his supposed sister could have arrived on the scene the old-fashioned way and not as part of bizarre Brady dreams.

So yes, we’re not sure we like the way this story began, but we will hold judgement in the hopes that it plays out right.
