Daytime alum Peter Reckell (Bo) of “Days of Our Lives” is returning to his Broadway roots with a lead role in “The Fantasticks.”
According to She Knows, Reckell will appear in the play from September 5 through September 25 at the Theater Center in New York City.
Reckell was part of the Sullivan Street Production cast 35 years ago when he played the character of The Mute and understudied for the role of The Boy.
The actor will portray El Gallo in the current production. El Gallo is a matchmaker of sorts who brings two young lovers together in a way that’s reminiscent of “Romeo and Juliet.”
Reckell will be joined by “Another World” actor MacIntyre Dixon (D.A. Cunningham) in the musical.
“The Fantasticks” tells the story of two neighboring fathers who trick their children, Luisa and Matt, into falling in love by pretending to feud.
The fathers hire traveling actors to stage a mock abduction so that Matt can seem to heroically save Luisa, ending the supposed feud. When the children discover the deception, they reject the arranged love match and separate.
