Days of our Lives performed their Christmas tradition of every member of the Horton family hanging their ornament, complete with their name, on the holiday tree.
Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) was moved to receive one, now that he’d married Sarah Horton Cook (Linsey Godfrey), and both hung theirs next to the one for Sarah’s lost little girl, Mackenzie. But fans wanted to know: Why didn’t Gwen get an ornament? What kind of discrimination is this?
We’ll admit, the question left us scratching our heads. Gwen (Emily O’Brien) is…not a Horton. She’s not a Horton by marriage, like Maggie Horton Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers) – whom some fans thought should be stripped of her ornament privileges, now that she’s married to Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston), thus effectively erasing her decades of family life with Mickey Horton. By that logic, should we smash Sarah’s ornament, too, since Mickey only raised her as his own her entire life, even when he knew he wasn’t her biological father?
Obviously not. But Gwen doesn’t fit into that category. Gwen is the daughter of Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford). Jack is married to Jennifer Horton (Cady McClain). Gwen is, at best, a Johnson, since Jack’s biological family includes Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) and the late Adrienne Johnson Kiriakis (Judi Evans). But she isn’t a Horton. Not, like…at all.
But just like Maggie gets an ornament on the tree, so did Laura Horton (Jaime Lyn Bauer), due to her having been married to Mickey, and to his brother, Bill Horton, and the mother of Mike Horton and his sister Jennifer.
Where is Laura this festive holiday season? Oh, yeah…Gwen killed her. So if she really wants an ornament of her own, why doesn’t she grab Laura’s, X out her name – the way she X-ed out her life – and pop it on a branch? That’ll be more appropriate.
